Absolutely not. I have had several people on trips petrified of the ocean and they were swimming by the end of the trip. I had to actually warn one woman to take a buddy with her when she was swimming out so far!

To get ready for a dolphin swim you will wear a life vest while in the water to help you float and enjoy the dolphins more so you can do the whole trip without even putting your head underwater.

Below beach where we will stay, you can literally walk half a mile out and it is only waist deep and crystal clear.

The trips on Isla Mujeres are great as the water is warm and shallow on the beach where we stay which is a perfect opportunity to practice putting your face in the water with a mask, if you want, with both feet firmly planted on the sandy bottom. It is as safe as your bathtub! Then if you feel comfortable you can float on your belly with a mask and snorkel and then you take it from there.

Dates and pricing are being set for a holiday dolphin trip. Dates and pricing will be posted shortly. If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible and I can put you on a temporary list.

This will be a beautiful time to be in Mexico just in the middle of winter for many of us. Our destination will be on the Island of the Women, Isla Mujeres Mexico, where woman from Cancun used to go to do their rites of passage. This magical island is just a short boat ride from Cancun. Tentatively the trip will include the following:

• 1 dolphin encounter
• 1 dolphin swim
• Sailing trip (in which you may encounter wild dolphins)
• 1 massage
• Meals for the first 5 days (breakfast all days)
• Creative Arts
• Dancing and shopping therapy
• Astrological Reading
• Lodging for 7 nights (I know economics are a concern for many so I will be selecting three hotels for your varied pocketbooks (You won’t be spending a lot of time in your room once you see the beach and all the island has to offer)

Each trip unfolds in a unique way. From someone offering to do yoga with our group to Spanish lessons to private serenades from local musicians. I just book the main things but I am always amazed at what great surprises show up! And of course you are welcome to participate or just relax.

There are two days at the end of the trip to do as you wish, some ideas for sidetrips are:

• Isla Contoy, a beautiful day trip to an uninhabited bird sanctuary where you can snorkel and have a fresh fish lunch cooked for you on the beach.

• Chichen Itza - Mayan Ruins

• Cancun - you may want to go to shop or dance one evening (although there is dancing and great shopping right on Isla)

On this particular trip we were able to get in the water with two dolphins that had just lost one of their friends. They were listless and not eating and you could just see the sadness in their eyes. The picture below is where I was performing reiki on the two dolphins. I like for our groups to give back to the dolphins, not just when they are sick but with thanks for all they are doing for so many people.
The issue of captivity comes up on every trip and we have excercises to talk about this on the trip. First of all I choose facilities in which I beleive the dolphins are well cared for and loved. Second I believe on a some level these dolphins have agreed to come and help people, similar to Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa did not have to do what she did, she just choose to give her life to help people. I believe these dolphins have also. Quite frankly if the oceans continue to get sonared by the Navy the dolphins in captivity may be the only ones left in the years to come. Lets pray that the legislature will put a stop to all this testing.
